PROGRESSIVE FORK SPRINGS

Beitrag von beachcomber »

Gentlemen,

I just had progressive for springs made for my pal's Norton club. We have been marketing Progressive Fork springs for BMW Kay series for 10 years [ race proven ].

Would there be any interest for our bikes ?

Price would be around £70 pair.

Hi TJ,

the Wirth springs are well known.
For me, with 75 kg body mass, they are a little bit to strong.
I prefer the Wilbers Promoto ones for 109,- Euros:

Please be aware that the Z750Twins use several different lengths of fork springs !

Cheers, Michael

Eric,

thanx for your feedback. The RAM progressive kit [ pictured ] is £75 [ inc. seals ]. These are the units used for the past 4 [ championship winning ] years by Ben Kingham racing.

I would expect the KZ750 to be around the same price - maybe a little dearer [ 10% ? ] due to the lower numbers. We have the Kay sprngs made 200 per order. I can have them made in ANY spring rate I want.

As ever Michael thanx for your infos. I also had an enquiry to replace the air spring versions. We did this with the Yamaha Virago. As you know, my knowledge of the KZ is minimal - but I am a quick learner !

As with ALL these "what if" projects - I want a a set for myself !!! My guy will make me 1 set - no problem, but of course the cost will be higher ! Even so, cheaper than the others I have seen - maybe £90. If I order 50 springs [ 25 bikes ] then the price reduces by around 20%.

Michael - how many different lengths are there ?

Ben Kingham - 3 times B.E.A.R.S. outright Champion with his RAM equipped Kay - RAMSHOX and fork springs.

Hi TJ,

at least three.
Table 12-1 shows four different amounts of fork oil to fill in and table 12-2 shows the three fork spring lengths:

Called to see my spring man [ collect latest order for Kays ] and enquired re: KZ750.

He's prepared to make a minimum of 40 springs as long as all dimensions are the same apart from length.

I thought maybe 20 of each B1,B2 ... that's 10 bike sets for each model.

As per the Kays [ Progressive, but without seals ] price would be £65 / set.

I'll be posting up on the other relevant sites to see if there is enough interest to go ahead.
