Hallo,

I have seen this bars and saw the detail in the pictures. They look awfull and not stabil. Maybe you have the possibility to fix them by welding. I think this effort you have to make is not worth to make them save and nice.
This is my personaly opinion.

Greetings

Ralf

Thank You for your comment Ralf. I have not seen this style before but i like it. I can get welding done but would paint. Can these be bought new or good used in Germany?

Hi,
its a good question. I didnt have seen engine bars for the Twin before.
These Parts new? I don't think so. The only chance is waiting for better Parts on Ebay.

Hi,

I had the same engin bars on my last B ( bought 1978).
I don`t think you can buy it new.
But I you have someone who can weld it would be good to chrome-plate it afterwards. Before you chrome-plate it think about sandblasting the metall.

Good luck, Ralf

Interesting comments and thank you. I have small bars over the engine casings which are good if the bike falls over but would bend if i fell off. I have bars similar to these on my ZRX. Much more sturdy. I am tempted to buy and then copy them.

Hi Andy,

I can't understand the mounting position of these bars.
The long, single end seems to have a small hole, max. M8.

Maybe there are additional metal bars needed to attach it to the Twin frame. Some universal engine bars were offered in the last decade.
Oh, just found them in the portfolio of my favourite universal bike parts supplier called "Louis".

Universal, lot of "adapters", chromed, new, 70,- Euros.

Maria's Twin got some engine bars. Picture in the Lonesometwin.com forum:

Maybe that is the same style as you have described.
They have a latch at the front motor fixing and a kind of "splitted" ring around the frame (bottom area under the motor).

I have seen some of them after a crash. Typically they are bend and torn, but the engine cases were still ok. Maybe some scratches where the bar touched the case.

Cheers, Michael

Denkt dran:
Die Drehrichtung des Motors an der Zündungsseite ist gegen(!) den Uhrzeigersinn.
Die Steuerkette nur bei montiertem Ventildeckel spannen, sonst droht ein kapitaler Motorschaden!
Allzeit Gute Fahrt!

I agree Michael and i too spotted that. As an engineer this would not be a problem for me as i can get brackets made cheap. I will look into it and let you know.
