Ignition Switch and key for a B twin

Beitrag von kaptainkwak »

I have found a new ignition switch that does not need to be modified for a B twin. It is a 6 pin connector that works with 6 pin OR 4 pin plugs and comes with 2 keys. We did not change any wires on a B1. If anybody needs one they will cost 25 euros plus postage.

Hi,
I have bought the same ignition switch.
It looks very good. You need only 4 wires to connect to the original connector.

I have not found a four wire one here that would simply plug in and work. The wiring needed to be changed. The 6 wire one will work with both 4 and 6 wire harnesses. That is B1, B2, B3 and B4. I do not understand how or why it does but it does

Hi KK,

you need only 4 pins.
If you look on the connector you see one side with a not flat side.
Ok, this side nearest 4 pins are the one you need. It´s white and brown in the middle the blue and red one.
I talked to the people who sold me the ignition switch and thats what they told me.
Good luck
Ralf

Hi Ralf
I understand that 4 pins are needed. I thought that was B1 and B2. I have just checked and it is 4 pins for ALL European, American and Canadian B1 to B4 models as you say. I did not know this. I have now found out that the 6 pin models are the 650's and others. Maybe not all. However this 6 pin does somehow work but if your 4 pin works too then it is not needed.

Thank you for the information.

Cheers for that Ralph.

We have quite a few listed over here but from most experience they have been wired incorrectly and have therefore not been plug and play. The one i was mentioning we have bought and works perfectly. I was offering to you all as i thought you might have experienced the same problems.

It is all good to know

Cheers
