A little more progress - the frame is finally ready to be shotblasted, and will hopefully be dropped off this weekend.
As long as I can get the wheelbearings sealed - they will also be off for blasting - and in their case - powder coated [ Gold ].

Hello beachcomber,
if I have understood correctly,
do you want the frame after shotblasting paint or powder coating? What color do you imagine?
The wheels will be powder coated gold. Are you sure that you are not better at it leaves the wheel bearings and replaced them after the powder coating? You may not need coating inside.
The wheel bearings go really easy for installation and removal. Try it better before. And look for some new one first, if you want do replace them.
Or remove and close the opening very well before coating
Many greetings
Gerd

Hi Gerd.
First the frame - it is VERY bad surface corrosion . so my plan is to paint [ after primer ] with textured paint [ 2K ]. It is like the H-D engine case finish - but a little coarser. The colour will be RED !!
The wheels - Yes, removing the bearings is the obvious choice - but I was having a great deal of difficulty in removing the front wheel axle. Just 2 "flats" each side to get your spanner on. No matter how hard I try - they will not come undone. I fear breaking something !!
I have a plan B - to completely seal the bearing area with metal cups and silicone sealing. Not an ideal solution, but I am quite certain it will keep the grit out and the grease in !
If I am not 100% certain when they are sealed - I will have to giv ethe wheel [ front is the problem ] to somebody with better facilities - ie bench, big vice and heat !!

Hallo Leute,

Was hast du vor ?
LG, Michael

I think I have an oddball wheel !!!!! A local guy came to look at the bike last week - and said he didn't recognize it !
I'll take a picture later and post up as it does NOT have normal hexagon nuts.

Picures of wheel in next 48 hours - they are at my pal's garage.
Michael - I sometimes forget that our English "trash" words do not always translate !
I have a very good German pal who looks after my house in Saxony - in the 10 years I have known him [ 3 or 4 visits every year ] his English has gone from " good schoolboy" to learning our little English slang [ trash ] and excellent conversion - and even "English" jokes !
As most English people I am humbled that most of our European cousins speak passable [ at the least ] English - while we English struggle with the odd EU language. I did not have the opportunity to learn German at school - so it is only what I learn on my short visits.
I have a large gathering of German pals now - and in our village [ Reichenau ] every one my age and say from 50 years old on has Russian as their 2nd language, while all the "modern" kids [ post DDR ] know very good English.
BTW -
"Oddball" - quirky or unusual - out of the ordinary.

Here's the pix of the wheels. They came fitted on the bike - maybe this was a UK option ?

Hi beachcomber,
this is not the front wheel of a Z750B !
The brake disks of the Bs have only four holes to be fastened and cover on opposite side is only mounted with two small screws.
Never heard about a special wheel option for UK as spoked wheels.
Bs in Germany where only offered with spoked wheels while UK has the cast wheels as well.
Front wheel axle might be the standard B axle with the large special nuts on both ends.
Looks like there is a ringshaped gap where speedometer drive is fitted ?
Do you have pictures were the complete wheel is shown to see spokes and rim as well ?
Do you have a picture of the brake disc ?
Where there any spacers/washers used to correct mounting position of brake disc and/or brake caliper ?
Cheers, Michael
