Have you noticed that life is full of “good news / bad news” moments !!! Bild
The bad news is that the guy [ Dave, recovering from cancer ] who took over my old workshop unit and had offered a space there to work on the bike while he made parts – has had a relapse.  :'(He can only work the odd day per week, which means I would have no daily access to the bike if it went up there-  and it’s 20 minutes away.
And literally the same day I got the news, my old pal Brian [ also in remission from Cancer Bild] said that he had finally got his garage sorted out – and had a KZ750 sized space where I could work on it ! 10 minutes away! Bild
This is also the guy that used to build my replicas for his own clients AND was the UK agent for Russell hosing and had his own mobile workshop that he took along to Drag Race meetings ! He still has all his hosing tools and jigs etc, and even has boxes of fittings and the odd length of hose ! He is a meticulous [ almost anal ] worker and very good at wood patterns, which will be a big help when it comes to mocking up the blower , etc.
So, the plan C [ or is it D ? Bild] is to get the bike off the workbench in my shed – remove wheels and accessories and the move the whole project into his garage. In the interim, I’ll get my bike ramp cleaned up [ too dirty for his spotless garage ! ] and taken round there. THEN we can take the measurements for the wheel spacers etc and get the chassis truly rolling. First pal Dave will make the bits as promised – just have to wait until it’s one of his “good” days. If that’s not an option due to his health, I need to find another “friendly” machinist.
Getting the bike bits and work ramp round to his garage ALSO clears space to assemble my Engine hoist and stand – then work can also get started in earnest on my supercharged 2.3 Volvo lump for my 940 wagon project !!Bild
All in all feeling very positive, if a bit sad about my pal Dave’s relapse.

Michael,
I thank you for the kind words. The bike is now completely stripped to the chassis / forks / swingarm and all the parts are labelled in boxes for easy [ ?? ] identification when we re-assemble the chassis. I was with my pal all day yesterday [ Friday ] making the final preparation in his garage. He has to sell some furniture that he has stored there - and then I can move in and begin work !!

I would like to thank all my German cousins for the kind words and encouragement in my dark days of bad health ..................... Vielen Danke  :thanks:

Fork brace ordered - Tarozzi £99.99 NEW. Just the steering dampener now.

The bike is now completely stripped and bubble wrapped ready for it's move to my pal's garage - OK still has rear wheel loosely in place [ 2 handed job ], but essentially ready to go. Most of the parts are boxed up now.

Gentlemen,

Can anybody tell me what pistons are used for the 865 conversion ?

My twin plug head is now completed and I hope to collect the spare engine and parts from Kaptain Kwak in November.

OK - I have now translated [ Google ] the relevant posts for the 865cc conversion, and I see the pistons are specially made.

Big cc's is NOT essential with the supercharger - that means I have money to spare for the ignition system !

Hi TJ,

looks good !
You've decided to go with the large threaded NGK "B"-version.
Is there enough space for that ?
Would you mind to post a pic from inside / combustion chamber ?

ThanX, Michael

Hallo Michael - here is the combustion chamber side. The small damage to the floor of the exhaust port [ not critical ] has been rectified. When I finally get the head I will index the plugs [ side electrode probably ] and start some minor blueprinting.

The bike is now completely wrapped and ready for the move as soon as my pal gives me the word. Then we should see progress to the rolling chassis quite quickly.

Hi TJ,

thanX for the pic, looks good !

I wouldn't worry about the dent at the lower side of the exhaust channel.
From the mechanical point of view it is not needed as long as the gasket of the downtube sits in it's place.
Maybe just used as a cooling fin, that's all ;)

Had your cylinder head some surface grinding with the intention to higher the compression ratio ?
Inlet valve seat is close to the gasket surface.

Maybe it is a matter of the viewing angle.
Here is a picture of my cylinder head and looking at it once again, well, it seems to be the same small distance from seat to surface:
(inlet valve seat at left hand side! pencil shows to another issue I was working on: improve the spark plug thread ends inside combustion chamber, to avoid "coal" residue as much as possible)
