Do any of my German cousins have any knowledge of this unit ?

Hi TJ,
sorry, I don't know this ignition unit.
I am going to use a slim Dyna ignition coil (already here), but it is not mounted yet.
Cheers, Michael

Hi TJ,
look here at the homepage of the producer of this unit:

Hope the link is helpful.

Hey Gerd - many thanx for the link. Michael thanx for advice.
This unit [ 2 x retard ] is exactly what I need for the Glemseck [ supercharged ] engine. I need one retard for maximum boost [ to stop detonation ] and a second for the Nitrous Oxide retard.
It looks like their crank trigger set up will also be ideal.
As ever - vielen danke

Hi TJ,
so this is not the ignition box itself, but a device that prevents the engine from selfdestruction by changing the ignition impulse to a separate ignition box ?
Not sure about the setup.
I can imagine a pressure sensor behind/after(?) the supercharger, that activates the retarder box to change the ignition curve and to reduce the pre-ignition angle (Zündzeitpunktverstellung).
How can this box receive information from the Nitrous Oxide System (NOS) ?
What kind of value and which related sensor provides usable information ?
Or does it just need the information if NOS is activated or not ?
Cheers, Michael

Exactly Michael - the retard is activated by a signal from the boost pressure sensor on the blower to intake plenum. This is pre-set boost [ like turbo ] and this activates the ignition retard - usually 2-5 degrees, depending on the boost level.
The Nitrous power shot is instantaneous [ maybe 50 - 75bhp for me ] and the retard is activated as the NOS solenoid opens.
This unit works together with an ignition controller and a crank trigger device.
My pal Brian has contacted the manufacturers direct to get as much technical info as possible. They were just closing down business when he called them [ for Thanksgiving ] and have promised an answer next week.
Please understand that I am NOT an electronics expert - or even close ! My race cars were simple to set up as the MSD units came with idiot proof instructions and diagrams ! This is a learning curve for me.

We have now had a reply from the Dyna tech guy. He is suggesting the DARC-2 ignition controller, which amplifies the spark output and has built in retards [ x 2 ] and a launch rev limiter. This will work with the OEM KZ750 trigger and he suggests the Dyna dual output 7 ohms coils.
Still more research to do, but this tech guy is very helpful and will respond immediately to our queries.
I hope to have the stock clutch springs with my spring maker next week and I should have prices on +15% stronger units. I have to order 100 springs minimum, but I need 3 sets and I think KK will also take some.
I hope to be doing some work on my new twin plug head over the Christmas break.

I am sorry to ask so many questions !!!
For the 40DCOE Weber engine I will NOT need any retards - just a good strong system.
Question .................. if I use the stock KZ CDI ignition, which is the best add on system - Sache or Ignitech ?
Also - what is the correct coil they recommend ? I will need two coils of course for the twin plug conversion.
Many thanx
TJ

Hi TJ,
the Sachse will replace the complete stock CDI ignition, except the coils.
It replaces the mechanical timing advancer as well, but the Sachse rotor will only fit onto the slimer "rotor holder" of the B-models.
Ignitech just offers the programable ignition box, not the pickup at the crankshaft.
That was the reason I decided to go with the Sachse one.
Sachse recommends the use of 3-Ohm-coils with their ignition and they offer slim Dyna coils.
I just found that they offer two version for the Twins now, but couldn't find information what the differences are.

As ever Michael, many thanx for your quick reply. The Sachse unit seems to be best.
