Hello

I just started the job replacing sprockets and chain on my Twin 750 but are not able to get the nut(s) of. I just wonder if the threads are links here or is it not..? Any ideas how I should proceed in order to loosen the nuts and get the front sprocket replaced..?

See picture for details

Hi Salaren,

it is a single nut and it is a normal (fine) thread.
To loosen it it needs to be turned counterclockwise.

Open the locking/safety plate first.
Easiest way is to use a pneumatic impact wrench / wheel gun.

If you don't have that, use everything of the following:
Put in first gear.
Coil up a cleaning cloth and push it in between the rear sprocket and the chain (lower position), to use it as a "blocker".
Get another person to help you and let this person press the rear brake as hard as possible (e.g. while sitting on the bike).
Pulling the front brake as well supports the action.
Now you can use a large wrench and open the nut on the front sprocket.

Good luck !

Cheers, Michael
